One day Laura helped a star that had fallen down to the pavement: she tied him to a bunch of balloons, which took him right back up into the sky. And that star has been her own special friend ever since. He helps her see things differently. In a witty and poetic fashion he shows her how to dream with your eyes open, and how to overcome fear and insecurity.
The characters
Laura:
Laura has plenty of imagination and loves to make up adventures. She's enthusiastic and convinced that even Roly, her younger brother Tommy's toy dog has a special star.
Tommy:
Tommy is Laura's younger brother. Laura is the 'star' in his life and he often follows her around. He is very timid and fearful of everything.
The Star:
The star is the fantastic and unpredictable element in the stories. It is often the starting point for the adventures. In the cartoon series the star is given a 3-D glittering effect to make it stand out from the 2-D surroundings.
'Laura's Star' was picture book of the month in five book clubs in the USA, Germany, Denmark, Finland and Switzerland.
