The Monday Cinema slot is ZDF’s "high quality label", which attempts to captivate the viewer with the magic of the cinema. Monday Cinema is predominantly devoted to thrillers: sophisticated, gripping and top-quality examples of international feature film productions by distinguished directors and featuring top acting talent have their regular place on Monday evenings at 22.15, and a number of these are broadcast by ZDF as German television premiers.
Under the auspices of the Monday Cinema slot, ZDF has also been presenting a series of erotic films entitled Summer Night Fantasies since 1993, thus setting a new trend.
Over the years the Summer Night Fantasies have become a trademark for lovers of good cinema, featuring well-known feature films that have enjoyed international success such as "The Unbearable Lightness of Being", "Basic Instinct" and "Lady Chatterly".
