Mainz, 10th May 2012
The screening results of the MIPdoc Library 2012 have once again confirmed the importance of ZDF Enterprises as provider of high-quality factual programs on the international market place. In the Top 30 ranking of the titles requested most frequently by international buyers, five programs come from the ZDF Enterprises catalogue. Last year, the firm made the hit list with four programs. With altogether five titles, ZDF Enterprises also came in ahead of other competitors on the hit list. Only A+E Networks USA and EBS South Korea scored with three titles each, all other competitors came in with only two programs, or just one.
The ZDF Enterprises programs on the Top 30 list:
The MIP highlight “Holy War” is a five-part series that comprehensively describes the wars fought between Christianity and Islam since the founding of Islam and up to the attacks of 11 September 2001. In three episodes, “Ancient X Files,” which belongs to the same genre (History & Biographies), scientifically examines ancient myths such as the Philosopher’s Stone and the Holy Grail. A title from the Doclights/NDR Naturfilm package, “Crocodiles – Caring Killers,” awakened buyers’ interest in the Wildlife & Nature genre. Two new, magazine-like formats from the field of Science & Knowledge also made it on the list: “The Science of Everyday Living” (Perfect Cleaning / Perfect Cooking), which sheds light on everyday phenomena in an entertaining manner and from a surprising perspective; and “Missing Link,” which brings humor and an element of surprise into finding the most surprising connections between subjects that seem to have no connections between them whatsoever.
