Mainz, 22nd April 2009
Wolfgang Cimera, 43, is to be the new General Manager and Producer of Network Movie Film and TV Production, a subsidiary of ZDF Enterprises; in future he will run the company jointly with Jutta Lieck-Klenke. He is taking over from Reinhold Elschot, who will take up his new position as Head of TV Movies and Deputy Program Director at ZDF in the summer.
Wolfgang Cimera has been Production Manager at Network Movie in Cologne for the last four years, making a vital contribution to many of the company's works including the recently-broadcast successes "Entführt" ("Kidnapped") and "Stralsund - Mörderische Verfolgung" ("Stralsund – Fatal Pursuit") as well as TV series such as "Nachtschicht" ("Nightshift"), "Lutter" and "Soko Cologne". Cimera was born in the Rhineland and took a degree in economics before becoming involved in the rise of Network Movie Cologne when it was founded 10 years ago, first on a free-lance basis and then – after some time spent working for Endemol Deutschland and Sony Pictures – as Production Manager.
"At times like these I am particularly pleased to be able to step into such an exciting position in a company I have been linked with for so long, where I can really identify with the company program," says Wolfgang Cimera. On the subject of Cimera's new appointment Dr. Alexander Coridass, President and CEO of ZDF Enterprises, remarks: "Wolfgang Cimera has displayed impressive creative and managerial skills in his work for Network Movie on project development, production and company development. I have every confidence that he will continue and expand the extraordinarily successful work performed by Reinhold Elschot, in association with Jutta Lieck-Klenke." Reinhold Elschot himself expects his successor "to come up with new impulses while maintaining a high degree of continuity in the production of top-quality, successful fiction."
Wolfgang Cimera will take up his new duties on 1st June 2009.
From 1st May 2009 the position of Production Manager with Network Movie in Cologne will be filled by Annette Oswald, who is moving to the city from Munich.
Network Movie was founded in 1998 as a subsidiary of ZDF Enterprises GmbH. Under the leadership of Reinhold Elschot and Jutta Lieck-Klenke the company has grown into a prime player in the creation of attractive, high-quality TV films and series, and today it is regarded as one of the most important producers of fictional programming in Germany.
