Pommery and Turkey Breast

Every year, teacher Luise Fischbach goes on a skiing holiday over Christmas with her husband and children. But this year, everything turns out differently. An essay written by one of her class pupils entitled `My ideal Christmas` makes her take stock of her own family situation and prompts her to cancel the skiing holiday and invite her mother, Ruth, sister Jasmin and brother Frieder and their families to a grand family reunion Christmas dinner. But all is not as rosy as might at first appear and the occasion gives rise to a few home truths. First to arrive is Luise`s brother, Frieder, a craftsman, who tries to cover up his own problems with his excessive zeal to put things right in Luise`s home. Then there`s Jasmin, who plays model for her husband`s talents as a plastic surgeon, but gets precious little in return. And mother Ruth, artiste manqué, who throws one cat after another amongst the pigeons...

This Christmas celebration in the bosom of the family is like a storm that finally clears the air. After their departure Luise is certain she couldn`t put up with her family all the time. But the ice has melted...
