ZDF Enterprises and National Geographic Film Library extend agreement

ZDF Enterprises and the National Geographic Film Library have extended the agreement governing exclusive marketing of each other‘s archive material in their respective territories.

As a result National Geographic Television & Film (NGT&F) now also markets ZDF material in the USA. This partnership, which was agreed upon in the year 2003, grants National Geographic the exclusive right to distribute material from the ZDF program archive in Great Britain, and now also in the United States, while ZDF has already begun licensing material from the National Geographic Film Library to its clients in the territories of Germany, Austria and the German-speaking areas of Switzerland. The agreement also covers the immense wealth of archive material, which is of considerable significance to the European clients of National Geographic and ZDF Enterprises.

"The combined database of ZDF and National Geographic Television and Film has already proved to be a very attractive and efficient source for producers who require distinctive non-fictional archive material," says Matthew White, Vice President of the NGT&F Film Library. "By combining our resources, the expertise of our personnel and our client base, we have succeeded in extending our licensing business and can at the same time offer our clients a far greater variety of content. The extension of our agreement, which now covers the marketing of ZDF archive material in the USA by National Geographic, further strengthens a relationship that can only be of advantage to all concerned."

The National Geographic archive includes extensive material from the areas of science and archaeology, adventure and research, people and cultures, as well as nature and wildlife films. The ZDF archive contains the station‘s comprehensive program database in non-fiction departments such as human and social affairs, science, health, wildlife and nature films, culture, history, the environment, travel and holiday destinations, current affairs and much more. The material can be obtained in a variety of formats: 35 mm, 16 mm, Super 16 and HD.
