Two young filmmakers set out to tell the story of Rudi Dutschke, one of the central characters of the "68 Generation," in the form of a docu-drama that seamlessly combines interview passages and staged scenes. Many of Dutschke's friends, comrades and opponents give their views on the political radical as well as on the phenomenon of the revolutionary stirrings that exploded in 1968. The portrait of the man Dutschke thus becomes the panorama of a generation, its utopias and delusions.
