A docudrama about the last citizen to be executed in the GDR: for planning to escape to the West. Werner Teske was a brilliant economics student and a committed communist. While at university he worked for the Stasi, the secret police, and later he joined their staff, responsible for industrial espionage in the West. But he became disillusioned and in 1981 decided to defect. He was caught and sentenced to death. One second after his appeal was rejected, the executioner stepped from behind the cell door and shot him in the back of the head. The Stasi, it is said, handed his wife her identity card, pointing out that her marital status had changed. This docudrama tells Werner Teske's story.
