With their tender yet roughshod, caring yet bullish behavior towards one another, Verena and Otto have long since become one of the most popular couples on German TV, even though they're not really a couple. They're a team: two Berlin police inspectors who are the heroes of a series that infuses a strong portion of humor into a classic police procedural.

Verena, played by Maja Maranow, is attractive, astute, even cunning, and with a biting wit. Otto, played by Florian Martens, is a rough-hewn Berlin native with street smarts and a hangdog look that belie his quick mind. With their combined criminalistic skills and years-long experience, they make life tough for every Berlin criminal.

Over the years, Otto and Verena have grown more accustomed to each other, which is reflected in a greater tenderness and intimacy. But the cases they must solve are as exciting and topical as ever: the cigarette mafia, life-threatening doping practices, illegal adoptions of children, stolen babies ... 'What a Team!' has steadily increased its viewership and regularly averages 6 million viewers and a market share of over 20 % on ZDF.
