With its skilful mixture of tense, gripping criminal cases and amusing, winsome tales of family life, 'Stubbe - From Case to Case' long ago became a cult hit. It was in 1994 that Inspector Wilfried Stubbe moved from his hometown of Dresden, with his family - wife Caroline and daughter Christiane - to Hamburg. Since then he's been applying both his native cunning and a witty, perceptive attitude towards his fellow man to the proud and reserved Hanseatics.

Stubbe never allows the rich and mighty to intimidate him, and despite - or perhaps because of - his modest manner, he always gets results. When young people are under suspicion, Stubbe always looks first of all for the share of responsibility that is borne by the adults. At the same time, a kind of protective instinct in him automatically comes into play, and this helps him go to work with still greater energy and precision.

There is no lack of conflicts in the Stubbe household either. Stubbe has always been a dedicated family man, who aspires for harmony at the cost of almost any disagreement. His domestic disputes with his wife and adolescent daughter help train his healthy common sense and make it more acute. In fact, his family problems engage his attention just as much as the crimes he has to solve.

Played by the beloved character actor Wolfgang Stumph, Stubbe is gruff yet tender, tragic yet heart-warming - the kind of man everyone would enjoy spending 90 minutes with every now and then!
