At 20.15 h on 1st March 2003, Ulrike Kriener appeared for the first time as Commissioner Lucas in a new ZDF Saturday Thriller. Ellen Lucas moves to Regensburg because her husband is in a coma, starting work there in her new job - which is far less idyllic than the new city. While her colleagues are critical of what they see as unhealthy ambition, and only prospective commissioner Deuter supports her, Lucas has to jump straight in at the deep end and investigate the murder of a 5-year-old girl.

Ulrike Kriener was involved in putting the final touches to the script by English writer Barbara Jago. Directed by Thomas Berger, she is utterly convincing in the role of an extraordinary woman whose life is turned inside out overnight when her husband is involved in a serious accident. Now she has to face the new situation, and she does so with sensitivity and perseverance, charm and toughness. The team surrounding Ulrike Kriener features eminent colleagues such as Thure Riefenstein, Michael, Roll, Alexander Lutz and Tilo Prückner. Actors appearing in individual episodes include Maja Maranow and Meret Becker.
