When gold was discovered in the Klondike in 1897, countless adventurers wanted to get to this nearly inaccessible region in Canada's Northwest fast. A fleet of special steamboats was constructed, but many ships sank in the treacherous waters of the Yukon River. A team of underwater archaeologists and historians is currently investigating the wrecks and, from these ruins, piecing together the triumphs and tragedies of the Klondike Gold Diggers.
