It’s the first case for Munich Detective Chief Superintendent Vera Lanz, and it’s a tough one. Kim Landauer, the 24-year-old daughter of a prominent restaurateur, plunged to her death from the balcony of her apartment after returning from a night of clubbing. At first sight, it looks like suicide. Suspicion soon arises, however, that she was killed by someone who did not have to force his or her way into the apartment. The investigations focus on the victim’s 23-year-old ex-boyfriend and his prominent family. But the father of the victim seems to hold a former business partner responsible and, in his grief and sorrow, seems ready to do anything...
