Spring in a forest in northern Japan. A snow monkey mother is scavenging for food for her newborn baby. Just like the other creatures – flora and fauna – in the forest, she has adapted her life to the changing seasons. One flower called “naniwazu” thrives in the darkness of the forest floor and has arranged its flowering cycle counter to the seasons. It enjoys the winter sun and is the first flower to bloom in the Forest of the Apes.
