Every summer thousands of ocean tortoises undertake a long journey to Raine Island, a lifeless island full of bones, coral fragments and tortoise shells located off Australia’s Great Barrier Reef. Every year the island awakens to new life when the reptiles arrive to lay their eggs. Their offspring face difficulties from the very beginning: they are eaten by sea gulls or crushed by full-grown tortoises, and hungry tiger sharks and other ocean predators are eagerly awaiting them in the water...
