The two documentaries in the series “The Fantastic Plastic Brain” show how people with serious brain damage can learn to live with their handicap and even gradually regain some of their lost abilities. This is made possible by the amazing power of adaptation of the brain, which compensates for damages by creating new connections between nerve cells. Medical researchers hope that their research into these processes will lead to new methods of treating brain damage.
