This documentary is a moving close-up of a young girl in the midst of the horrifying and merciless reality of the Holocaust. Leaving aside her famous diaries, this program concentrates on reconstructing a mostly neglected part of her biography. Anne Frank died of hunger and exhaustion on 6 January 1945, just a few weeks before liberation. “Up to the end,” relates a witness, “she and her sister Margot did everything they could to help the children in Bergen-Belsen and to give them a bit of joy.”
