The mummy is over 2,000 years old, its flesh incredibly well preserved, and there are even still traces of blood in the veins. The best surviving and best conserved body ever found affords scientists profound insights into the life and death of Xin Zhui, a wealthy noblewoman who died in China between 178 and 145 BC. Scientists are amazed at the means used to preserve this body and others found at the same site, a mysterious method that far surpasses any previously known means of mummification.
