Cologne police officers, Docker and Dretzke (Jürgen Tarrach and Oliver Korittke) have been assigned to assist to Düsseldorf state police in staking out an apartment where drugs are being dealt. They have the night shift, while two Düsseldorf cops (Herbert Kaup and Gerald A. Held) cover the day shift.
Docker falls in love with the pretty bar maid Wanda (Ellen ten Damme) in the bar across the street, and stupidly brags about his "night watchman's" job. Wanda then innocently passes this information on, and the whole operation is threatened with failure. Like a couple of school boys caught while cheating, Docker and Dretzke have their hands full keeping their necks out of a noose.
In the process, the two discover that their arrogant colleagues from Düsseldorf are apparantly working on the side of the dealers, and they suddenly find themselves in the middle of a drug war. But, who would believe a couple of small-time cops from Cologne-Porz?
Alone against everyone: an easy case ... a damned hard case ... a clear case for DOCKER & DRETZKE - the "Every Day Heroes"!
With "Every Day Heroes", director Ralf Huettner and co-writer Dominic Raacke have made an unusual movie that unashamedly uses all of the police-film clichés. By focusing their wit and imagination on the simple things in life, they've created a cool, humorous film that proves there is life this side of Hollywood.
The "Every Day Heroes" have already passed their first trials by fire, winning Best Producer honors at the Munich Filmfest '97 and recieving enthusiastic applause from audiences who saw it. The film was cited for its ... "daring to turn things upside down in a way that's refreshingly different".
The music for this film is also refreshingly different. Instead of the usual musical score the "Every Day Heroes" are accompanied by the Cologne Hip-Hop band, Die Coolen Säue (The Cool Sows).
