The Giant Panda's distinctive black and white markings are absolutely unique in the animal kingdom. However, with not more than 3,000 animals left in the wild and about 60 in zoos these bears belong to the endangered species list. In the past, zoologists have been largely unsuccessful in breeding them in captivity. But now there’s hope: In less than a decade, Wolong Nature Reserve in China successfully bred 38 Giant Pandas and is now planning to release the animals into the wilderness.
