Situated on the equator, the rainforests of Borneo are a treasure trove of precious species. This region is home to variety of animals with a unique history of evolution.
One particular characteristic of these forests is the rich diversity of flying animals. The image of creatures taking to the air is usually associated with birds and insects - yet on this island, mammals, reptiles and even amphibians glide among the trees.
Wildlife photographer Tadashi Shimada is keen to capture some of these mysterious creatures mid-flight – hoping to shed light on how they manage to defy gravity while taking to the air.
