It’s a highly risky job – and paid accordingly: the professional divers who descend to 100 meters beneath the sea to dismantle or repair oil rigs and platforms have to be totally fit of body and mind. Connected with the ship only through an “umbilical cord” and heavily laden with equipment, the divers look like a cross between an astronaut and a construction worker. It’s a very special type of person who is attracted to this kind of job. The film accompanies diving teams in the Gulf of Mexico.
