ZDF Enterprises and Margarete Steiff GmbH ink license agreement for Germany's most popular advertising characters
Mainz, 4th February 2010
ZDF Enterprises GmbH and Margarete Steiff GmbH have inked an agreement regarding the popular license classics the 'Little Mainz Men'. During the International Toy Fair Nürnberg, Steiff will introduce the first 'Little Mainz Men' in plush version. Steiff plans to create a comprehensive product range for the children target group as well as a yearly limited special edition for collectors. Having been on the job since 1963 now, the 'Little Mainz Men' are the most senior figures within ZDF, and from the very start they've been a trademark and popular symbol of the broadcaster. ZDF's 'Little Mainz Men' came in second in a recent survey of the most popular advertising characters in Germany conducted by the German Advertising Museum in Frankfurt am Main.
Alexander Coridass, President and CEO of ZDF Enterprises: "We are extremely pleased about the partnership with the renowned Steiff company. ZDF and Steiff working together means that two German quality brands are meeting at eye level. We are looking forward to many innovative and premium quality 'Little Mainz Men' with the legendary Steiff button in their ears."
Martin Frechen, Steiff's CEO, adds: The 'Little Mainz Men' are an attractive license brand not only for the TV audiences who have grown up with them. Their strengths are their unique values in brand recognition and sympathy. Entire generations associate unforgettable childhood memories with the 'Little Mainz Men'. This is why we see a high potential in this new license agreement."
