Love, Lies and Secrets

One day, when a couple of boys are bothering Nina, Patrick suddenly comes to her rescue. They arrange to meet again, but Nina doesn't tell her parents about this - after all, she doesn't even know his name. It's much simpler to let them think she's meeting a friend called Kim. But when 12-year-old Nina comes home that night she's an hour and a half late. And that's not all - her parents find out she has lied to them. The Reinhards have no hesitation in grounding her for a week.

A day after this huge row the doorbell rings and a strange woman is standing there. It's Monika Richter - Nina's real mother. This is a terrible shock for Nina, who had no idea she was adopted as a baby. Nina is deeply disappointed in her parents. Her mother tries desperately to explain: »We just didn't have the courage to tell you the truth«.

From this day onward Nina's life becomes more and more complicated. She hopes her friendship with Patrick will give her some guidance, but he moved out of his parent's house some time ago and lives in an apartment with friends. And then there's Monika Richter, Nina's real mother. She's even fixed up a room in her apartment so Nina can live there. So when Nina's parents forbid her to go to Kim's party, Nina packs her bags and moves in with Monika.
